Don’t be scared… Fear not, for AGM season is upon us, and we’re here to make it less daunting for you. Yes, we’re talking about those three intimidating letters: Annual General Meeting. How often have you heard someone say, “I wouldn’t touch one of those meetings with a ten-foot pole! I don’t want to end up on the committee!” Well, we’ve got some good news for you. Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for the 27th of September at 5.30 pm in the Back Bar of the Warkworth Bridgehouse Lodge. And let us assure you right away – there’s no pressure to join the committee. In today’s world, most committee positions are discussed well in advance with prospective members. However, we still welcome nominations from the floor during the AGM. Consider this event not as a chore but as an opportunity to mingle with fellow members over a refreshing drink. It’s a chance to discover what we’ve been up to and our aspirations for the upcoming year. This is your platform to pose questions to the One Mahurangi Committee and Operations team, gaining insight into the Association’s operations. We encourage your inquiries. While the AGM might not top your list of favourite activities, shift your perspective. Join us and relish the company of like-minded business owners and operators. Learn about the organization representing you and its plans for the next financial year. As I pen this message, I’m preparing for the Local Candidates’ Debate at Warkworth Town Hall, featuring seven candidates from seven different NZ political parties. It’s always an engaging and, at times, spirited exchange of ideas. This forum helps us make informed decisions about our local representation in Kaipara Ki Mahurangi. Hopefully, I’ll have the pleasure of seeing you there. Let’s leave you with this thought: Though times may seem tough now, and business may be slow, remember that summer is on the horizon. With it comes the promise of more visitors, bolstering our local economy. We firmly believe that this is one of the best places to be in New Zealand. So, hang in there, stay positive, because, as we always say, we are stronger together. Remember, it’s all about buying local, supporting local, and employing local.
