| We are heading into that time of year when life seems to speed up for some and slow right down for others. For the One Mahurangi, Warkworth team and especially those organising the Warkworth Santa Parade, it is definitely the busy season as we make sure everything is ready to welcome Santa and Mrs Claus to Warkworth on Saturday, 13 December. Float entries are now coming in, so if you have not entered yet, do not leave it too late. We will need to close registrations once we reach last year’s numbers. You can find the registration form and details on our website > onemahurangi.co.nz/wwsantaparade2025 Santa and Mrs Claus will also be out and about spreading cheer on the Warkworth Santa Sleigh Drive on Monday, 15 December, starting at 6 pm, and again in Snells Beach on Wednesday, 17 December at 6 pm. The Fire Brigade and our ever-popular Chubby Elf will be joining them, so get the kids out on the footpath to give them a wave. Find your street name on our posters here > onemahurangi.co.nz/santa-sleigh-drive-through-2025 It has been great to hear that some Warkworth retailers plan to open on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Last year, the town was buzzing with visitors, and the few shops open did a roaring trade. We will be promoting those businesses again, so if you intend to open, please let me know so we can add you to the list. Let’s make the most of the summer crowds and encourage visitors to shop, dine, and spend locally. While the extra traffic can test our patience, it is worth remembering that these visitors are vital for many of our local businesses, especially after a tough few years. A welcoming smile and good service can go a long way towards helping our town thrive. Let’s all do our bit to make visitors feel at home, support our local businesses, and keep Warkworth buzzing this summer. |
