16th March 2023 UPDATE | The Industrial Area is a hidden gem

I was talking the other day to a local and when I mentioned the Warkworth Industrial Area he said, “Remind me what’s up there again?”

I mentioned to him that as well as being home to a great little café with very good coffee, it was the best place to go for anything to do with getting his car repaired or for getting a WOF… in fact, it didn’t matter what he needed for his vehicle, he wouldn’t have to leave town for it because it was all here.

I told him about places to get flooring, kitchens, tiles, plumbing, and electrical parts. If he was doing anything DIY around the home or farm repairs, help and supplies were to be found here. He could learn how to dive, get his aluminium joinery built or repaired, and if he was trying to get fit, he could go to a gym. And, while he was busy doing all of these tasks, he could see his accountant to sort his books out!

I don’t think that he is the only local around who perhaps forgets what a huge range of businesses we have up the in the Warkworth Industrial Area. But it’s a hive of activity up there! It is worth a drive around even if you do that on a weekend when things are a bit quieter. Get to know the businesses you could be reaching out to for help when the need arises.

One Mahurangi continues to work with Auckland Transport over parking issues around Glenmore and Morrison and, as the land beyond Glenmore starts getting developed, parking will continue to be an ongoing issue. We remain in ongoing discussions with AT as well as the developers and business owners in the area to produce the best possible outcome for all parties.

The business association is also in continued discussions with AT about road safety on Woodcocks Road for students from the College. Advocacy and problem-solving around key issues in the area are always high priorities for One Mahurangi as the Industrial Area is invaluable to the BID as it is the powerhouse of our local economy.

In the One Mahurangi BID Area, we have distinct parts; from the town’s CBD to the Grange to the Industrial area. All these areas deserve recognition and are worth a visit to see what’s on offer. Exploring these different areas and visiting the businesses within them gives us the opportunity to Buy Local, Support Local, and Love Local!
