Next Tuesday night we’re hosting Open for Business—and no, that’s not a question, it’s the name of the event. It’s aimed at all front-facing businesses in town, not just retailers. Join us from 5.30pm in the Back Bar at the Bridgehouse on TUES 20th May. The first drink is on the house, then it’s a cash bar. It’s also a great spot to grab dinner afterwards.
We’ve got a couple of short talks lined up, including insights from local operators who open on weekends and public holidays. You’ll also get a sneak peek at our Modern Marketing Workshop Series, kicking off on 4th June, plus a few other updates. The 20th event will be a good chance to connect with fellow business owners and staff, share what’s working, and swap stories about the challenges we’re all facing. Please let us know you’re coming. RSVP to lauren@onemahurangi.co.nz. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
In other news, we recently held a meeting with Elizabeth Street businesses alongside Watercare and McConnell Dowell. It gave affected businesses of the pipeline project a direct line to the team doing the work. It was a constructive session, with honest answers around timing, parking, and what to expect. The commitment from Watercare and McConnell Dowell to keep businesses in the loop well in advance is a real step forward. Compared to where we were in December, this kind of collaboration shows the strength we have when we all work together.
We really are stronger together.
